Our Proud History
How We Formed:
Quilters living in the Florence area formed the Guild and met at the Florence Christian Church in October 1988. They adopted the name Stringtown Quilters Guild as the Florence area was historically once known as Stringtown-on-the-Pike.
Our Purpose
- To exchange ideas and to share interest in quilts and quilting
- To encourage and maintain high standards of design, technique, creativity, and workmanship in quilting.
- To promote and preserve the historical significance of fine quilts
- To stimulate interest in preserving the art of quilt making
- To instruct and educate in the best selection of tools, materials, and methods of quilt making

Our Accomplishments
Possibly the accomplishment we’re most proud of is that we have been together for 20 years! We had a special Twentieth Anniversary Celebration at the Scheben Library in Union in July 2007 and had a wonderful reunion of past members and charter members, as well as a show of the Christmas Challenge Quilts that we do each year.
Our meetings are well attended because it’s time spent with friends and having fun!
Each year we select a Community Project to do as a group. Some examples are:
- 2001 – Two pink quilts made from member’s blocks were raffled and $3449 was raised and donated to “Sew For The Cure”.
- 2006 – Miniature quilts were made by members and auctioned through the “Priority – Alzheimer’s Priority” organization. $1455 was raised.
- 2007 – The Guild members made 132 baby quilts that were given to the Care Net Organization of Northern Kentucky.
We are proud as a Guild that we made the official Boone County Bicentennial Quilt which currently hangs in the Boone County Administration Building.
